Vacuum Exposure UnitDownloadable Plans
These are plans to build a vacuum exposure unit for a fraction of the cost it would take to buy a commercially built unit. This is a complete set of 11"x17" CAD drawings with complete instructions, diagrams, pictures, materials list and suppliers. Also included are instructions and drawings on how to build a vacuum pump for use with this exposure unit and complete wiring diagrams. You will also get full e-mail support on any questions you may have while building or using your exposure unit. This is not a buy it and then never here from me again deal. If you have any questions on building your unit or getting supplies after you purchase these plans, just e-mail me and I will get you the answers. This is the same unit I designed and built for use in my screen-printing shop. I use it daily and it burns excellent screens and holds very fine detail. My typical burn time is 2 minutes, which produces a perfect screen with the emulsion I use. Your burn times may vary somewhat based on emulsion type and humidity. I built this unit for about $200.00 and is big enough to burn 2 - 20"24" screens at a time or 1 - 23"x30" screen for auto printers. A commercial unit this size would cost several thousand dollars but you can build a unit like this for a lot less. You can also scale the size down if you want and spend even less building the unit. A smaller single screen unit could be built for $100.00 or less. Why use a unit that is nothing more than a 500-watt work light. Yes it will work but you won't have a vacuum system to hold your positive tight to the screen which is critical for fine detail not to mention burn times of 15 to 30 minutes with the work light units. The plans show you how to build this unit with high output fluorescent black light lamps which produces screens with exceptional detail with a short exposure time. The plans also show you how to build the unit with a single source light in case you are not convinced that you can burn good screens with fluorescent lamps. While this is not true, I have include both options for you. These are 11"x17" plans - They are Ebook Plans. You will download the plans and get a list of suppliers to where you can get the few items you can't find at the hardware store. Replacement blankets for commercial units cost $70.00 to $150.00. I tell where to get the vacuum blankets for a fraction of what they normally cost. If you're on a tight budget you can even get a rubber blanket for less than $12.00. And if you're real industrious and have a little time to look, I'll tell you where you can look and find a quality vacuum blanket for free. These materials are the same as those used for the expensive replacement blankets but at a fraction of the cost. This information alone is worth several times the cost of these plans.
